A Day in the Life...
2:00 PM
by Laura and Kelly Allen
At 8 1/2 months, Hannah :
- Crawls (she started army crawling at the end of February and started real crawling on Sunday). She gets along pretty fast, but when all else fails, she reverts back to her army crawl.
- Walks holding someone's hands. She's good too (which makes me nervous - I'm not ready for a walker). Last night she held on to a little standing play gym and slid it along and walked with it. I see a push walker in our near future.
- Has 5 teeth. The fifth cut yesterday. All the better to eat spinach with...
- Is a really happy baby. She's pretty much smiles most of the time...
- Still loves Bella. They play together and sometimes even cuddle...
- Really loves to take a bath. She would spend hours in there if she could. She's discovered the pull cord for the drain stopper. The first time she pulled the drain out, it scared her immediately and she pulled herself up to get out of the tub and cried. Now, she thinks it's pretty funny...
- Loves kisses. She loves to give them and get them. And hers are messy. I'm just warning you.
San Diego...Again
4:01 PM
by Laura and Kelly Allen
Hannah and I made a little surprise trip down to San Diego for my Aunt Jackie's 70th birthday. My other aunts flew in and so did Aunt Jackie's kids, Sonia and David, and his family. It was a blast.
Hannah and the Birthday Girl
We also celebrated my sister Jenn's and brother-in-law Jeff's birthdays (born March 6th, just like Aunt Jackie -- there must be a funky gravitational pull or something), as well as my other brother-in-law Terry's and nephew Ross's birthdays (both at the end of February). Whew! That's a lot of birthdays.
We had a great time, but we sure missed daddy. We were glad to get back home to him.
Mellow Yellow

I was just having some fun taking pictures of our sweet girl the other day in her yellow onsie. I swear this kid looks good in any color. I can't pull off yellow to save my soul.
What, momma?
Doesn't it look like she's doing one of those shots where you hold the camera yourself?
Cheese
You can see all four teeth in that last one.
Livi's First Birthday
5:01 PM
by Laura and Kelly Allen
This weekend, we went to our dear friend Olivia's first birthday party. The weather was really cooperating, which was great, so the kids got to play outside some and enjoy the sun. And of course, there was picture taking.
Hannah enjoyed the swing, while a very kind party-goer pushed her gently. I think a swing set might be in our future.

Hannah also just enjoyed sitting in the grass and feeling it with her hands and feet. Isn't she so sweet here? That onsie is from Auntie Anne. She got it for Valentine's Day, but we thing red looks great anytime.
Here's the birthday girl with Hannah. I couldn't tell you what they were both so interested in. It was probably the dog. They love TJ and he is so sweet with them.
Jen (Olivia's mom) and I have prearranged that our daughters would be best friends. If people can arrange marriages, we can certainly arrange friendships, don't you think?
We had so much fun at the birthday party and can't wait for more warm-weather days so we can play out in the sun with our dear friends.
Cloth Diapers and a Playroom
8:23 AM
by Laura and Kelly Allen
So, we're going back to trying the cloth diapers again. Now that Hannah is bigger, we think it's much more successful. Last time, there was just too much bulk there. And, even now, they're still on the tightest setting.
The bright colors are really cute and it makes me just want to leave her in diapers only all the time (even if it is a bit cold up here for that - we've got heat, right?).
Also, we've set up the loft (formerly Kelly's office) as Hannah's playroom. We got those awesome foam tiles to put over the wood floors and it's pretty great. We're still working on the decor, but Hannah doesn't seem to mind.
So, here she is, in all her diapered glory, sitting in her playroom. Yea!

Photographic Evidence

Kelly and I both posted on Facebook last week that our little miss has taken to pulling herself up. Here, I present the photographic evidence.
In the beginning...
Almost there...
Ta Dah!
And in other news, Hannah now has two top teeth and two bottom teeth (she's still cutting the second top one).
Sweet smiles. Love it.
Lil Chicken

We've had a chicken spotting at our house. We believe its the elusive pink chick. We've included a picture for identification purposes. Please contact us if you have any information.
Thanks to the Spillanes for the adorable hooded towel from Pottery Barn Kids. Her name is even embroidered on the back. Too much cuteness.

Our New Employee

by Laura and Kelly Allen
We've decided to hire a new employee at our web design firm. She's our new Junior Project Manager.
We expect great things from this one. Look at that focus. Look at that determination. Look at those cheeks.

7 Months - Oh My!
9:31 AM
by Laura and Kelly Allen

Here she grows again. Hannah is getting her top left tooth now. It has not been fun. The last two nights she's been up every hour or two. Poor little miss. The tooth broke the skin two days ago and white appeared yesterday. We're hoping it'll get good and out soon, because we could all use a little more sleep.
Hannah has been really into saying "momma" lately. Most kids say "dada" first, because its just linguistically so much easier, but not our girl. She just skipped that one altogether. Poor Kell. I got a video of her saying it, but it never uploads nicely into Blogger.
Hannah is really into Bella these days. They share toys and kisses and both seem to enjoy it. Bella brings her toys to Hannah so Hannah will tug on them and Bella thinks it's just great. I think Bella's not altogether sure why Hannah can play with her toys, but not the other way around.
Look at Us!

Look whose pictures are posted on another blog. Our dear friend, Jen Ferguson who does family photography in Oregon, shot these pictures for us in November to use for Christmas cards and the like. You may recognize one or two. Check it out. Jen pretty much rocks.
Christmas...A Day Late and a Dollar Short
2:48 PM
by Laura and Kelly Allen
So, I finally spent some time going over the Christmas photos we took in San Diego. I know, it was over a month ago, but that's just how it is sometimes. Naps do not last long enough to get serious PhotoShopping done most of the time.
So, here are a bunch of pictures...

The Feeding Frenzy Continues
3:07 PM
by Laura and Kelly Allen
We have added a second meal to Hannah's eating schedule. That means good morning light for taking pictures.
Hannah has taken to liking to "feed" and "clean" herself. Big girl. Here's some photographic evidence, since I know you all really only stop by to see pictures.

I'm such a big girl I can feed myself...
And when I'm done, I clean myself up
And this last picture I'm just throwing in because I love those big blue eyes...
Cooking with Hannah
8:00 AM
by Laura and Kelly Allen
This is a tribute to David and Jill -- our creative and hilarious cousins. They put their little boy Lucas in a stockpot and aptly titled it, a Modest Proposal. We had to follow suit.
Here is Hannah, all set to cook:
One day, we'll whip this out at her birthday party and royally embarrass her. That's our job as parents, right?
Our Little Miss at Six Months
9:40 AM
by Laura and Kelly Allen
Hannah is gettin SO big. She's a little over six months now and growing up so much. She has two teeth now. The front bottom left she got on December 27th. The front bottom right joined in two days later. Everyone has been insisting that she's teething for three months. She got some seriously rosy cheeks in the days leading up to cutting them, so maybe that's our tooth hint. So far I haven't been able to get a picture of the elusive teeth, but boy howdy do we know they're there. Ouch!
After our six-month doctor appointment, we started Hannah on solids on Monday. She loves rice cereal. Our little miss (or mess) is a darn good eater. Right now she only eats in the evening, but we might add a breakfast feeding soon. So proud of her!
Hannah sits up like a champ. She can lean all the way over from a sitting position and put her head to her toes and pull her self right back up without wobbling or falling over. She's also decided she likes to stand, although that typically means she holds on to something and we have loose hands around her middle. I can't stand how big she's getting.
She's also getting more hair all the time. It's pretty blond, with some red to it. She still loves her bath time -- she alternates between kicking and sucking on her toes.
What total joy our little girl has brought to our lives already, and it's only been six months.
She thinks she's such a big girl. She likes to hold a cup like mommy and daddy do.

Slow Readers...
9:03 AM
by Laura and Kelly Allen
I know, I know, I haven't posted in a very long time. You see, we went out of town for two weeks at Christmas, and then actually had to get back to the grindstone once we were back. I'll work on getting pics from the trip up soon.
This post is more about a little something I'm thinking about doing. It's called Slow Readers Book Club. Now, I'm not a slow reader (thanks mom for those speed reading classes I took in jr. high, they seriously worked), but this is more about not having lots of time to read. Oh, I so feel that one. Anyway, it's the brainchild of our.city.lights. I sort of like the idea that I could read and discuss a book online (no need to feel the pressure to host the book club yourself and spend hours making hors d'ouvres). I found out about it from one of the mommy blogs I like to read, For What it's Worth. How I originally found her blog, I will never know. I tend to follow a long spiral of mommy blogs so that I end up reading about lots of other moms.

The first book is Jeanette Walls's Half Broke Horses. I read The Glass Castle and I think I liked it (or at least, I don't remember not liking it), so this might not be too bad of a choice for me. Still thinking on it though. Any thoughts? BroadBrains, do you want to join in?
